LAVCA-AMEXCAP Summit Convenes Industry Leaders and Global Investors
Mexico City — Over 250 fund managers, investors, public officials and other industry players traveled to Mexico City from around the world to participate in the 2008 LAVCA-AMEXCAP Summit on April 9-10. LAVCA partnered with the Mexican Private Capital Association (AMEXCAP) to highlight opportunities and challenges specific to the Mexican PE and VC market, just as major firms such as Advent International, AIG Capital Partners, GP Investimentos, The Carlyle Group and Darby Overseas are expanding their presence in the country.
AMEXCAP opened the Summit with a program which featured remarks from high level government officials and managers representing local and global PE firms active in Mexico, including Nexxus Capital, WAMEX, Alta Growth Capital, Discovery Fund and Advent International. AMEXCAP also took advantage of the opportunity to highlight the need for increased commitments from institutional investors to PE and VC by hosting a panel with the heads of the National Pension Fund System, Insurance Company Association and Banking and Securities Commission. The lack of domestic institutional capital is one of the key barriers to expanding private capital investment in Mexico.(taken from LAVCA news). For more information see: www.lavca.org
